Istrouma Brewery

Sugar Farms is a family-friendly destination in St. Gabriel (just a few miles from Baton Rouge) that is not what you might expect from a typical farm. Sure, you'll find sheep, goats, hay and herbs being raised there. But you know what else you'll find, besides a restaurant, art gallery and drive-in theater? Craft beer!

Istrouma Brewery was opened as a destination where folks can kick back with a locally made brew and enjoy the agrarian vibe of the place. Along with its spacious outdoor patio and taproom filled with vintage furnishings (note the antique pickup truck that's been repurposed as a booth for guests), Istrouma serves up quality brews. Another thing that sets Istrouma apart is its use of nontraditional ingredients. Take Turkish salts, for example, along with homegrown citrus, and honey that comes from beekeepers in the area.

Istrouma's philosophy: "Our bottom line is determined by the taste and quality of our beer, not by how much we have to spend on ingredients. We travel near and far to source only the highest quality ingredients from boutique farmers.”

Stop by Istrouma's tasting room and outdoor patio and see for yourself why this Iberville Parish brewery is creating plenty of buzz.
